Shruthilaya was started in the year 1992 by Guru Smt Hemalatha Prakash in Bangalore, India and was continued in USA from 1995 to 1999.
It was re-established in Bangalore in the year 2000. Now the school has over 150 students who are undertaking training in Bharathanatyam. Shruthilaya follows the Vazhavoor style of Bharathanatyam. We train the students for undertaking examinations conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board and examinations conducted by Akhil Bharathiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal. The school is also successful in helping its students complete their Arangetram and Gejje Pooje
Guru Smt Hemalatha Prakash is the Founder and Director of Shruthilaya Fine Arts, where she effectively uses her knowledge and passion for teaching to insist devotion and love for the dance forms through her students. Guru Smt Hemalatha Prakash deeply grounded in the Vazhavoor style of Bharathanatyam was introduced to Bharathanatyam and Mohiniattam at a fairly young age of 7 years by Guru Smt Jayanthi Thyagarajan, founder of Chitra Centre of Performing Arts and further mastered these dance forms. She completed her Vidwath Dance Examination from the Karnataka Dance Examination Board under the expert guidance of Guru Kalamandalam Usha Dattar.
Smt Hemalatha Prakash continued her quest for perfection and innovation through Nrityakalamandiram, a premier Bharathanatyam dance institution founded by renowned Dancer, Teacher and Choreographer Karnataka Kalashree Guru B Bhanumathi in Bangalore and was a prominent part of the dance troupe, Bharathanjali. As a true testimony of passion in dance and art, Smt Hemalatha Prakash has also completed her Masters in Fine Arts (MFA).
Guru Smt Hemalatha Prakash has choreographed multiple dance ballets and performed at many prestigious events and venues.
Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy-Kolar, Dasara festival-Mysore, Festival Kannada and Culture-Moodabidri and Melukote, Bharathamuni festival-Udupi, Pune Sangeetha Sabha, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavana-Chennai, Nadaneeranjanam-Tirupathi, Mammiyoor Temple festival- Mammiyoor Temple, Mookambika Temple-Kollur.
She has also conducted mohiniattam workshops and also performed at various venues in USA (Atlanta, dallas, Maryland, Omaha etc.). Accolades poured in for her performances at the Asian Spring festival, Maryland, USA in 2009 and Swathi Thirunal festival in Washington DC. She is in the judging panel of Natyarathna - The first Bharathanatyam reality TV Show (Aired by Shankar TV). She is part of the dance troupe 'Äadya' formed by the seniormost students of Nrityakalamandiram and have been performing at various dance festivals and events.
